Used to love this place. JJ it's time for a thorough cleaning. Everything seemed sticky. Everything! I ordered a combo shrimp and oyster basket with fried zucchini. The shrimp were wonderful fried to perfection and succulent (one of the reasons for 2 stars). The oysters were so small they ended up being just breading. The zucchini so over done the inside of the zucchini was nonexistent. It came with NO hush puppies. You had to order them separately and there is only 1 size for around $5, with probably 10 to 12 hush puppies. The saving grace for this is they serve to old type long thing hush puppies which are my favorite compared to the round style hush puppy. Because I love these you get a second star.

I don't eat oysters much so I am not a connoisseur. These were fresh and good tasting, although small. They did compensate by making our dozen actually around 18. Their gumbo is more like gravy than gumbo to me, but the flavor was good. $110 for oysters, shrimp brochettes, 2 popcorn shrimp plates and some gumbo. It was good but not that good. Price dropped it a star. Waiters were nice and the place was very busy. The building looks like an old Taco Bell building so seating is tight. It has a fun atmosphere with lots of pictures of local and famous musicians on the wall.

Enjoyed a nice birthday dinner out with my hubby at J&J Oyster Bar last night. The staff and especially our server, Cribbs, was awesome. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us navigate it so we could stick with our eating plan. The prosciutto wrapped mozzarella was especially good, I'd come back just to eat that. Steaks were good, and the cheesecake was the best I've ever had. Although a little pricey, it was worth the trip, and a great way to celebrate a birthday!

Two stars is being generous. Oysters were gritty and warm, the shrimp cocktail is literally a soup of cocktail sauce with tiny frozen shrimp swimming around in it, and the fries were clumped together and soggy. Then we get the bill and it's $78 for two people. Granted, we had two beers each, but a $90 lunch with such awful food left me feeling like I got robbed. I have no problem paying money for a good meal, but this absolutely was not one.
